AVALANCHE WINS "BATTLE OF THE BANDS!!!!"
GOLDSBORO-BASED BAND TO OPEN FOR 2007 "ROCKIN' RIBFEST" HEADLINER

AVALANCHE took First Place at the Battle of the Bands at the "Rockin RibFest" in Union Grove, NC, Friday, May 12th, entertaining the crowd and the judges with their best country tunes! The grand prize was $500 in cash, a HUGE trophy, and a goody bag full of terrific prizes for all seven members. Special thanks to drummer, Donnie _____ for working so hard to help us get to the competition.

"A great big "THANK YOU" to all the volunteers and stage managers who helped backstage before, during and after the "Battle." The "Rockin' RibFest" organizers provided all the bands with food, drink, and any assistance necessary. Everyone was incredibly supportive, including the other band members. This couldn't have been a better experience for AVALANCHE!

"I wasn't at all sure that we would take first place, especially after hearing the last group," band leader, Kerry d'Hemecourt, said. "They were an extremely good, tight band with a great, country sound. The first band was good, too, so although I went in with confidence, this was not an easy competition."

Singer Christy Ballance said, "Though we did a great job up there, I was getting ready to hear our names called for second place. Rocky Shelton's group was fantastic." Singer Tina Seldin Cash felt the same way. "I was preparing myself for the worst, knowing it would be close. What a rush when we realized we'd won!" she said. "It took a team effort, and this is a great band. Everyone gives 110% and it works," said bass player and vocalist, Rodger Giasson.

But the best was yet to come. The biggest surprise came when organizers announced that, along with the First Place honors, AVALANCHE was invited back next year to open for the big-name country act they bring in to headline at the 2007 "Rockin' RibFest" Saturday night concert!!!!

The event, sponsored by country radio station WFMX, kicked off the annual "ROCKIN' RIBFEST" to benefit the Dove House Children's Advocay Center in Statesville. Each of three bands --- chosen from applications/CD's/videos that were mailed in --- played 45-minute sets. The two other bands were excellent and the judges say they had a very difficult time choosing the best group. Bands were judged by song choices, musical ability, vocals, song presentation, and stage presence. PHOR-PLAY took Third Place, and ROCKY YELTON AND THE HIRED GUNS took Second Place.

AVALANCHE ROCKED Saturday, April 29th at the NC Pickle Festival in Mt. Olive!!
The weather was perfect for an outdoor event, and thousands attended to enjoy all kinds of exhibits, rides, kids' activities, arts & crafts, and of course, ENTERTAINMENT! Groups performed throughout the day, with AVALANCHE taking the spotlight from 12:30 until 2:10.

Our best Southern Rock and Country tunes rang out over the crowd ---- many of them watching the "half-pipe" bicycle show across the railroad tracks from our stage. Riders sailed through the air, hitting ramps on each end, doing 360's, sailing over people sitting in chairs in the middle, and really wowing the audience! WHOOOOOEEEEEEE!!! What a show!!

More than 100 folks gathered around the Pollock Street Stage while AVALANCHE performed to listen, clap, tap their feet, dance, and sing along to some of the latest country and pop tunes, and oldies Rock from the 70's and 80's. Some unique and talented dancers of all ages took to the street in front of the stage, keeping both the audience and the band entertained! (You had to be there...!)

Thanks to the organizers of the NC Pickle Festival for inviting us to Mt. Olive to participate in this annual event. WE HAD A BALL --- and were dill-lighted to be there! Thanks to our many old friends who dropped by, and "howdy" to the new friends we met. We truly appreciate your support!

Kudos for putting on a very successful festival this year, Mt. Olive!

AVALANCHE did their thang at the "Apple Chill" Street Fair in Chapel Hill, NC on Sunday, April 23rd and had an absolute blast!! We were one of about 25 groups that entertained throughout the day; one of only five bands featured on the Center Stage. Although the skies darkened and clouded up briefly, the sunshine prevailed and it was a gorgeous day for this outdoor event that attracts tens of thousands to Chapel Hill's Franklin Street. Dozens of artists sold their wares from booths that lined the street, and tasty treats from food vendors were plentiful. We wouldn't be suprised if the great weather results in record attendance for this year's Apple Chill.

The crowd rocked out with AVALANCHE --- and had nothing but positive reactions. Now we look forward to THE NC PICKLE FESTIVAL in Mt. Olive. That's coming up Saturday, April 29th and we'll be performing from 12 noon until 2:00pm. Hope you'll be there to ROCK OUT WITH AVALANCHE!!!!

Thank you Cindy for this nice write up from the Confused Illusion Artist and Management web site.

( Avalanche--IS HERE!! Check them out!! - When the band Flashback departed ways, several of their members joined forces to create their new project/band Avalanche. When I talked to guitarist Kerry d'Hemecourt, his excitement of what his new band is doing was very hard to contain! With a lot of changes and added "surprises", Avalanche will be a top-notch Top 40 show band. Look for them in early 2006. )

We would like to thank Cindy Pruitt of Confused Illusion Management for arranging the interview with Zack Hill.
"Cindy and Zack came by the studio Sunday to sit in on rehearsal for our upcoming video shoot, set for February 5th. It was great to have some new folks in the audience for a change! During a break and sat down for some Q&A. The last time we had this much fun was during a live, on-air interview with Z95.5 radio in South Carolina. We laughed and joked so much, it turned into a party! Sunday's interview was no different, so thanks again, Zack and Cindy. Hope you'll drop by again, soon!!

12/28/5
